5 Tips to Speedup Your Android Device
Android devices have a tendency of getting old. And with an old phone comes the great lag. This happens due to various reasons. Well, you may be able to save your smartphone by performing a few tricks that can push your handset forward, possibly making it as snappy as the first day you turned it on. Let's have a look at those tricks!
1. Delete the Unnecessary Apps
Most of us download the apps for a while and don't delete it even when we're not using it! Well, the background services of such apps can consume your memory and data as well. Moreover there are built in apps that comes along with the phone (Bloatware) are sometimes nearly useless.
Even though we can't delete it, we can disable them. This will help to free up some RAM. Unused apps are definitely resource hogs, so just get rid of them! You can do this by using the app manager in your settings, or by long-pressing apps in your drawer and dragging them to the “Uninstall” section.
2. Update your Apps and Device time to time
Are you one of those people who put off the software update notification? Remember software updates are not always about new features. In fact, most times the main purpose of these upgrades is to remove bugs and introduce performance enhancements. Make sure your phone’s software is always on the latest version available.
Same goes with the apps, with evolving technology, developers improve the performance time to time. So it's really necessary to update the apps time to time.
3. Remove the Unnecessary Widgets
All those widgets you have running on your home screen may be useful, but they also take up their fair share of resources. If you have any widgets running that you don’t really need, consider disabling them.
There's no harm in having some active, but you will notice an element of slow-down if you have too many running at the same time, so just be a little selective. These widgets do consume the battery of your device. So, it's important to choose wisely among the various widgets.
4. Clear the cache data
Cached data actually speeds up your device. It saves some data locally so that the system can reduce loading times and avoid the need to grab the same data from the internet every single time you enter a website or app.
The issue is that when you have so many apps and you haven't cleared the cache in a long time, then it consumes your internal storage by hogging onto your memory. That is why sometimes even though you've less apps installed but device says insufficient storage. So, it's necessary to clear the old cache time to time.
This can be done using apps like Clean Master on Google Play Store or if you don't want any new app then you can go to settings>storage and clear individually for various apps.
You can delete cache all at once, or app by app |
5. Dump the Heavy Animations and Live Wallpapers
I use Nova Launcher and here are it's animation settings |
Live wallpaper in an awesome Android feature that is not exactly the best at keeping your smartphone clean and smooth. Live wallpapers sure are fun, but they affect performance and battery life. Unless you are willing to sacrifice a bit for those fancy animations, just go grab a regular image.
Moreover, Depending on the launcher you are using, you may find that there are various animations and special effects in place. These may look great, but they can also slow things down.
Check in your launcher's settings to see if there is a way to disable any of these unnecessary extras, and you could earn yourself a speed boost.
And yes, don't forget to close down all the apps by removing them from recent panel.
Although following all of the above points is not possible sometimes, you can always try to get what's best for you.
