Trick to Play YouTube in Background on your Smartphone

Everyone loves watching videos and playing music on YouTube. But most of the time we are on our phones rather than computer. But problem with the smartphones is that when you come out of YouTube app, it closes. Wouldn't it be cool if keeps playing the music in the background? Of course yes!

These tricks are out there since long time, but you missed on them like I did, then you should have a look at this article.

Well, for both iPhone and android you have to use browser, i.e. trick does not make use of the official YouTube app.

This trick is very helpful while listening to podcasts, music and videos with only audio.

How to play YouTube in the background in Android :

This is the most easiest and cost effective solution. You don't have to download some third party app from play store which contains millions of ads. Here's how you do it.

Step 1 :
Download the Firefox browser if you haven't already and go to YouTube site.

Step 2 : Search for the video you are looking for and let it play

Step 3 : Minimize the Firefox or switch to some other tab and voila! This keeps playing the YouTube video in the background and you are free to do any other stuff.

Make sure that you don't remove Firefox from your recent tabs or clean the memory using some third party RAM cleaning applications.

You can download Firefox here.

Search for a video
It's still playing in the background

How to play YouTube in the background in iOS :

This method works for both iOS 7 and iOS 8, but you can't skip between the tracks in playlist. I guess anyone would deal with it.

Step 1 : Launch Safari, which is the default browser on your iPad, iPhone or iPod and go to YouTube website.

Step 2 : Search for the video you're looking for and click on play.

Step 3 : Press home button of your device, this time the music will stop. But don't worry. Swipe up from bottom which will show you Control Center.

Step 4 : Tap the play button which will continue playing the audio from the YouTube video.

Now, you are free to launch any other app you want simultaneously listening to the music in the background.

If you want to browse something, you might have to use some other browser. I haven't tried it yet. Let me know if you have. Opening new tab might stop the playback.

This method works with your screen off too.
